Calvià Town Hall adapts the Peguera boulevard rehabilitation to the requests of residents, merchants and hoteliers

The traditional physiognomy of the boulevard is respected in a renewal that increases from 300 to 1.200 metres

Statements by Juan Thomás

Calvià Town Hall will adapt the reform of the Peguera boulevard to the requests expressed in recent weeks by residents, merchants and hoteliers. In accordance with the new design, the traditional physiognomy of this road will be maintained, as requested by the different associations and entities in the area. The renewed project, which arises from the sensitivity shown by the consistory when integrating the demands of citizens and businesspeople, will have a budget of 4.15 million euros (2 of them contributed by the Next Generation funds; 750.000 by the Consell de Mallorca; and 1.4 million by the Town Hall). The works will be carried out in two winter periods to interfere as little as possible with the tourist and commercial activity in the area.

Thus, in the coming months the first improvements will be undertaken, and in the period 25-26 the necessary renewal of the boulevard will be completed. The project respects the typology of the current pavement and the trees, once cutting down and replacing them with flowerbeds has been ruled out.

Juan Thomás, Deputy Mayor for Roads and Works, has explained that "in order to comply with the requirements of the Next Generation funds, optimise deadlines and make the most of the financing, it has been decided to carry out the complete embellishment of the boulevard. This is a project for its 1.300 metres. From the Town Hall we celebrate that associations and entities have been involved and made proposals that have finally been included."

The mayor Juan Antonio Amengual and part of the Government team met this week with hoteliers, residents and merchants of Peguera to inform them on the changes, which will result in a new tender before the end of the year. In any case, a follow-up commission will be established to ensure that the project's progress and its adaptation to the wishes expressed by entities and associations can be monitored step by step.
