At midday, the mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, together with representatives of the colleges of Dieticians-Nutritionists (Manuel Moñino), Psychologists (Javier Torres) and graduates in Physical Education (Carmen I. Vera), have signed the first agreements to promote the Municipal School of Healthy Habits work. The objective is to promote the health and well-being of Calvià residents, with a comprehensive focus on prevention and the creation of healthy environments.

The Calvià Municipal Healthy Habits School (EMHAS) is an initiative to take care of health through healthy living programmes. It is aimed at Calvià residents willing to improve their well-being. According to the Deputy Mayor for Sports, Javier Tascón, the mission is to empower citizens to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle, contributing to building an exemplary Calvià in health management. The values are caring for people, proximity, teamwork and sustainability.

The agreement with the Official College of Dietitians-Nutritionists of the Balearic Islands (CODNIB) will carry out dissemination work on balanced nutrition. In addition, the CODNIB will advise the Town Hall and will participate in training activities to raise awareness amongst citizens about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Furthermore, an agreement has also been established with the Official College of Psychology of the Balearic Islands to advance in the prevention of mental illnesses and stimulate psychological well-being. The College will advise the consistory on policies and projects aimed at reducing the risk of psychological problems through awareness, training and research with actions to lead a healthy lifestyle and create emotionally healthy environments.

Finally, the Official College of Graduates in Physical Education of the Balearic Islands has also signed an agreement, in this case to combat illnesses through physical activity. The agreement seeks to prioritise both physical and psychological well-being, with special emphasis on combating possible illnesses. In fact, what is intended is to encourage an active lifestyle.

Today these first three agreements have been signed with professionals in nutrition, psychology and physical education. In the future, the signing of more agreements is planned, such as with the College of Physiotherapists.
