Ban on alcohol display enters into force

 Calvià, 16th August 2017

THE EXTERIOR AESTHETICS BYLAW MODIFICATION THAT BANS ALCOHOL DISPLAY ON SHOP WINDOWS TERRACES ENTERS IN FORCE

This is another measure to eradicate drunkenness tourism that is added to the Town Hall's request to regulate all-inclusive in hotels and alcoholic drink offers in establishments

This Thursday, 17th August, the modification of the external aesthetics bylaw enters in force. It will not allow alcohol display on shop terraces or kickboxing machines in the municipality of Calvià.
Thus, the exhibition of alcoholic drinks in public and private terraces for public use will be prohibited, as well as in shop windows, on counters or on pallets.
As of 31st December (as accepted through allegations), commercial establishments will also be obliged to separate alcoholic beverages from the rest of things on sale in the interior so that they can be closed or hidden when sale to the public is not allowed, that is, from 12 at night to 8 in the morning, as regulated by the Municipal Cohabitation Bylaw. In addition, there must be posters in the interior where clients are informed of the times in which the sale of this type of drinks is allowed.
In addition, recreational machines of the following types: "boxer", "kicker", "kickboxer", "arm wrestler", hammer and equivalent cannot be installed on public terraces or private terraces for public use. Only machines that are licensed until 31st December may be maintained.
The modification of the External Aesthetics Bylaw is another measure than the Calvià Town Hall undertakes to put a halt to drunkenness tourism.
In this sense, in addition to the premises dedicated to prostitution closure beginning, amongst others, the Town Hall has asked the Regional Government for measures such as the regulation of the all-inclusive in hotels, to exclude alcohol, or prohibition in leisure establishments of offers like "two for one", "happy hours" or free bar, through the modification of sanitary regulations, in the line in which tobacco consumption was restricted.
