In approximately eight months, the residents of Santa Ponça will be able to count on the new social centre which will house the Senior Citizens Association , the Neighbourhood Association and other dependent social services of Calvià Town Hall.
The new Social Services building will be called Ses Rotes Velles , and it will be built alongside the gymnasium within the Polideportivo Sports Centre in Santa Ponça. It will be built on two floors. The first floor will house the Neighbourhood Association with a large meeting room and a special adapted bathroom for invalids . The Social services department will be housed in several offices creating archives, a meeting room and two special adapted bathrooms for invalids . The Social Service department will offer the following services : information ,guidance ,consultant advisors, family guidance to include the welfare of infants and youths , welfare for the elderly and a department for persons with invalidity.
The ground floor will become the new site for the Senior citizens association and will include two large meeting rooms, a kitchen, store room, terrace, office and two bathrooms special adapted for invalids .
The total cost of the building will amount to 410.000 euros which will be paid for entirely by Calvià council .On the 15th November, the first stone of the building was laid by the Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado together with Teresa Martorell , the deputy Mayor of Social services and Xavier Mas, counsellor for Santa Ponça
