XII EDITION OF 'MOSTRA DE CUINES DE CALVIÀ'

A new edition of the Mostra will take place every Friday in April in different areas of the municipality

Students of the IES Calvià Catering and Tourism Department have been responsible this year for starting the Mostra de Cuines de Calvià, which will take place every Friday in April and in which about fifty restaurants of the municipality will participate offering menues at special prices. The dish that IES Calvià has prepared is an aguiat de pilotes de bacallà (cod meatball stew).

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, stressed that the event seeks to consolidate the start of the season by maintaining an activity that, in addition, allows tourists to discover the gastronomic offer in the municipality. Also, as an added value, it gives the neighbours of the municipality the opportunity to discover the offer they have in the municipality at very competitive prices.

The Mostra will take place every Friday in April in the different areas in which the municipality has been divided. The participating establishments serve a full menu at popular prices (12, 14 or 16 euros). For the Mostra de Cuines to be an event that can be enjoyed by the greatest number of people, restaurants have been encouraged to offer alternative menues (always at the same price): children's menues so that entire families can go, gluten-free menues and also vegetarian menues.

50 restaurants participate in this edition, which are distributed as follows:

-Friday 5th April: Peguera, Cala Fornells and el Toro areas, with a total of 9 participating establishments.

-Friday 12th April: Illetes, Cas Català, Bendinat, Portals Nous, Costa d'en Blanes and Son Caliu areas, with a total of 8 participating establishments.

-Friday 19th April (Easter): Palmanova, Magaluf, Son Ferrer and Sol de Mallorca areas, with a total of 19 participating establishments.

-Friday 26th April: Santa Ponça, Son Bugadelles and Costa de la Calma areas, with a total of 14 participating establishments.

The distribution of the event throughout April helps to promote amongst island residents the varied and rich cuisine which the municipality of Calvià counts with, and is a complement for the visitors who can take advantage and discover the municipality.

In the information leaflet that is published for each edition of the Mostra, and that is available in different languages on the Calvià Foundation website www.fundacioncalvia.com, you will find all the contact information of the participating establishments, the menues that will serve, the prices, the location plans of each of them and also the indication of the types of menu they offer.

The Mostra de Cuines de Calvià, with the current format, began in 2008 with the intention of promoting the gastronomy of the municipality, and is organised yearly every Friday in April, and also every Friday in October, coinciding with the beginning and end of the tourist season.
