400,000 euro Government investment in Calvią

Tuesday 5th November 2019

CALVIÀ WILL BE ONE OF THE DESTINATIONS THAT WILL BENEFIT FROM THE INVESTMENTS APPROVED BY THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT TO HELP OVERCOME THOOMAS COOK BANKRUPTCY

400,000 euros will go to the renovation of the Magaluf seafront

Calvià will receive 400,000 euros from the State, through the agreement that the Government of the Balearic Islands and the State Government will sign within the framework of the measures that have been launched, after the Royal Decree Law's approval, to alleviate the effects of Thomas Cook bankruptcy on the islands.

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has valued the arrival of this allocation to the municipality after the meeting that the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, and the president of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, have held with the mayors and mayoresses of the affected tourist destinations of the islands, and with the insular councils. Rodríguez Badal has indicated that it has been a fruitful meeting because the Central Government, amongst other support measures, has been able to urgently mobilise 8 million euros, a part of which will revert to a strategic project for Calvià. It is, he explained, the renovation of the Magaluf seafront, which will also receive 200,000 euros from the last Sustainable Tourism Tax call, and that will accompany the private investment that these years has been made to renovate the hotels.

The mayor of Calvià has made these statements during the second day of the London World Travel Market tourist fair.
