CALVIÀ TOWN HALL WILL PROPOSE THAT THE BUILDING DISCIPLINE OF ALL THE RUSTIC LAND OF THE MUNICIPALITY IS MANAGED BY THE TERRITORY DEFENCE AGENCY
In this way it would assume the 4.000 hectares of common ARIP and Rustic Land reaching a territorial coherence in favour of territory protection
Calvià Town Hall will propose in the Plenary session on Thursday to delegate the municipal powers in the field of building discipline, in regard to rustic land, to the Agency for the Defence of the Territory of Mallorca (ADTM).
The Law on Urban Planning of the Balearic Islands (LUIB) gives the Island Councils direct powers in terms of building discipline of protected rustic land. With this proposal, what Calvià Town Hall intends is that all the rustic land of the municipality is managed (in terms of building discipline) by the Agency for the Defence of the Territory of Mallorca.
Currently, the Agency has control over about 7.890 hectares of protected rustic land (areas of high level of protection, natural areas of special interest and rural areas of forested landscape interest) while Calvià Town Hall acts on more than 4.000 hectares of common rustic land and non-wooded ARIP. From the initiative that is proposed, the ADTM would exercise the building discipline on all the rustic land of the municipality, that is, on about 12.000 hectares.
With this measure in favour of the protection of the territory and territorial coherence, the Town Hall wants to close the circle on the rustic land granting control to the supramunicipal entity.
