Pioneer energy production system

Thursday 5th March 2020

The photovoltaic energy production system in the Deixalleria, pioneer in the Balearic Islands

Technical managers of the General Directorate of Energy and Climate Change of the Government of the Balearic Islands have visited this week the Deixalleria de Calvià, which has the first photovoltaic system in the Balearic Islands in a shared self-consumption modality through the under-compensation distribution network with the electrical supply of CALVIÀ 2000 offices, only 100 m away from the office.

The solar collection consists of 23 monocrystalline solar panels of 305 Wp which represents a peak power of 7.015 Wp. The production of electrical energy planned in the system is almost 3 times higher than the one consumed in the Deixalleria itself, so its surpluses will be compensated with the energy consumed in the CALVIÀ 2000 offices. If there were still surpluses, these will be paid at the 'pool' price on the electricity bill.

The particularity of this system is the electrical compensation between two independent buildings, with their own fiscal electric meters, through a single production system located in one of them, in the one with the lowest consumption. The recent Royal Decree 244/2019, of 5th April, allows this modality for production / consumption systems that are less than 500 m or that are fed from the same distribution centre, to which CALVIÀ 2000 has been able to avail itself being pioneer in this type of self-consumption in the Balearic Islands, with the consequent energy, environmental, social and economic benefits.

In this way, the Deixalleria, and the Offices as a whole, are endowed with a considerable degree of energy self-sufficiency, thus reducing the consumption of fossil fuels and contributing to the environmental and social improvements avoiding greater polluting emissions.
