THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE 48 PUBLIC HOUSING IN MAGALUF CARRIED OUT BY CALVIÀ TOWN HALL AND THE IBAVI BEGIN
The president of the Regional Government and the mayor of Calvià highlight the collaboration of both administrations to carry out public housing policy actions
The first stone of the 48 Public Housing promotion has been laid today, of which 24 are run by the Regional Government and 24 are run by Calvià Town Hall, as a result of an agreement signed between the Town Hall and the Ibavi, for a total amount of 5.131.565 euros, of which each administration contributes 50%.
The president of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the regional minister for Mobility and Housing, Marc Pons, have coincided in highlighting that, with today's event, in which the works begin, culminates a project that has had a long and complex journey. In this sense, president Armengol thanked Calvià Town Hall for its commitment to the project and, in general, to the public housing policy, and remarked “that they need the complicity of the town halls and their involvement in order to expand social housing in the Islands ». The regional minister also wanted to highlight the financial involvement of the Town Hall in the project and the "economic efforts it is making to increase the social housing stock" of the municipality.
The mayor of Calvià, who recalled that since 2006 there had been no promotion of public housing in Calvià, has reiterated the complexity of housing policies but has announced that, in addition to these 24 flats, work is already underway from the Calvià Housing Office in other developments, such as the 99 VPO planned in Santa Ponça.
The event was attended by, on behalf of the Town Hall, the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion, who addresses housing issues in the municipality, Nati Francés; the deputy mayor for Urban Planning and Magaluf councillor, Marc López; the councilwoman for Citizen Participation and Youth, Marga Plomer, and the general director of Housing of Calvià, Eduard Vila.
The 48 officially protected homes in Magaluf, which will be used for rent, are built on two plots of 1.774 m2 each, one owned by the Town Hall and the other by the Ibavi, and which are part of a RES (Strategic Land Reserve) approved in 2008. There are 2.430 m2 more where another 40 indirectly managed public development homes will be built, once the tender for promoter entities has been called.
The project that is beginning includes the construction of 48 homes and an underground car park. The proposal is organised in two independent enclosures of 24 homes each, divided into 2 blocks of 12 homes distributed on the ground floor plus two floors.
The work is expected to be carried out within 15 months.
The construction project is environmentally sustainable, both in its architectural approach and in the materials it uses. For example, the structure is made of wood from certified forests. Not only is it a sustainable material, but as it is a prefabricated system, it significantly reduces the construction period. It also uses local ceramics as a structural element for the ground floors and closing of patios and enclosures.
