Covid microcredits

Calvià 19th March 2021

BOTH CALVIÀ TOWN HALL AND TREBALL SOLIDARI DELIVER THE FIRST MICROCREDITS TO SMES AND SELF-EMPLOYED FOR A TOTAL OF 15.000 EUROS

It is a new line together with personal microcredits to cover extraordinary expenses

With these two lines, 30.000 euros have been awarded so far

Calvià Town Hall today handed out the first microcredits to companies and self-employed individuals from the Confía Programme within the framework of the two new lines that were opened as a result of the agreement signed with Treball Solidari.

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, delivered the check together with the director of the Treball Solidari Association, Antoni Sierra. The event was also attended by the Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés, and the Councilwoman for Social Development, M. Carmen Rojano.

Calvià Town Hall renewed the Confía Programme agreement with Treball Solidari, which aims to advise and grant microcredits to women in vulnerable situations, to promote self-employment. With the renewal of the agreement, two new lines of microcredits were opened: for families in vulnerable situations and for SMEs in the municipality.

In the first case, there is the possibility of granting microcredits, with a maximum of 600 euros and without guarantor, to families who have to cover an urgent expense that is not covered by other municipal aid, such as the repair of a vehicle or the purchase of a home appliance. In the case of SMEs and self-employed professionals, they can access a credit of up to 5.000 euros if they are facing significant financial difficulties due to the crisis caused by Covid-19, and commercial banks have denied them access to credit.

Since February, almost 30.000 euros in microcredits have already been delivered:

-Emergency Programme: Twenty-four families have received microcredits for a total of 13.900 euros, basically to cover expenses related to vehicle repairs, vehicle insurance, MOT fees, payments of overdue bills for various services or the acquisition of home furniture and home appliances.

-MiEmpresa Programme: In the case of companies and self-employed people, 3 microcredits have been delivered for a total of 15.000 euros (5.000 euros for each one), to meet the expenses necessary for the maintenance or start-up of the business. These are two restaurant businesses and one that sells tickets and transport with minibuses.
