Calvià, 6th February 2023

UNICEF GRANTS THE ACCREDITATION OF REFERENCE CENTRES TO THE BENDINAT, SANTA PONÇA AND ES MOLINET DE GALATZÓ NURSERY SCHOOLS

Three of the four reference centres in Mallorca are Calvià nursery schools

The president of the UNICEF Committee in the Balearic Islands, Mercedes del Pozo, has handed out the diplomas that accredit three Calvià nursery schools as reference centres in education in Children's rights, in an act in which the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal congratulated all the teams from the three nursery schools that have received the accreditation: Bendinat, Santa Ponça and Es Molinet de Galatzó.

"If there is something we are proud of, the mayor said, it is the work carried out by the nursery schools in education and the promotion of the comprehensive growth of boys and girls so that they acquire values from an early age." Rodríguez Badal thanked UNICEF for the recognition "because it is an incentive to follow a path that we are now beginning", and the Government of the Balearic Islands for promoting education for 0-3 years and for understanding, like Calvià, training and education at this infant stage.

The event was attended by the general director of Early Childhood, Innovation and Educational Community, Amanda Fernández; the deputy mayor for Education, Olga Granados; the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion, Nati Francés; the councillor for Social Development, Childhood and the Elderly, M. Carmen Rojano, and the manager of the Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries, Borja Martorell, as well as the management team of the Escoletes de Calvià and the coordinators of the 3 nursery schools that have received accreditation.

During the course, the nursery schools of Bendinat, Santa Ponça and Es Molinet de Galatzó have carried out various projects such as environmental education, children's rights and emotional education.

UNICEF grants these accreditations to educational centres promoting and defending the rights of Children and that have made the Convention on the Rights of the Child the basis of their educational project, involving the entire educational community. The Balearic Islands have 6 reference centres, 4 of them in Mallorca, 3 of which are three Calvià nursery schools.
