Saturday, 15th June 2024

Calvià consolidates itself as the first municipality in the Balearic Islands and third in Spain with 15 Q flags for quality on beaches

The municipality heads the list of beaches with the best services on the Islands and remains in the national Top 3 of the Spanish Institute for Tourist Quality (ICTE)

15 Q quality distinctions, flags that reward the quality of services on the beaches, have been awarded to Calvià in the presentation of this recognition that took place in Madrid on Friday. The awards granted by the Spanish Institute for Tourist Quality (ICTE), which depends on the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, are based on the internationally recognised ISO quality standard. As in 2023, Calvià repeats with 15 Q flags as the first municipality in the Balearic Islands and third in Spain after Marbella (19) and Sansenxo (16). The person in charge of receiving the recognition on behalf of the Town Hall was the general director of Tourism of the council, Carmen Peñas.

The 15 beaches with the Q flag are: Buganvilia, Illetes balneario, Cala Comtessa, Portals Nous, l'Oratori, es Carregador, Palmanova, Son Maties, Magaluf, Cala Vinyes, Ses Penyes Rotges (El Toro), Santa Ponça, and la Romana, Torà and Palmira, the latter three in Peguera.

The procedures to qualify for a Q flag involve passing an independent audit that certifies compliance with the highest standards of quality, sustainability and safety. This includes compliance with the requirements and parameters established in both, management and control of the procedures and work carried out on the beaches.
