CALVIÀ TOWN HALL MAKES A DONATION TO THE VICENTE FERRER FOUNDATION TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SCHOOL IN INDIA

The donation of 950 euros has been made on the occasion of the traveling exhibition D’Antantapur a Bellver passant per Camelle in the town hall building in which more than 30 artists from the Balearic Islands have participated

Calvià Town Hall, on the occasion of the presence in Calvià of the traveling exhibition D'Antantapur a Bellver passant per Camelle of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, has made a donation of 950 euros to the entity that will be used to contribute to the construction of a new school in India.

The donation ceremony has taken place today in the Town Hall's exhibition room. The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal has handed out the cheque to the representative of the Foundation, Isabel Pizà.

The exhibition, which has been in the exhibition hall of the town hall building since 14th May, is part of a Vicente Ferrer Foundation project called ‘Mata ombres’, in which more than 30 artists from the Balearic Islands have participated. Thanks to the support received and the participation of the artists from the ‘Mata Ombres’ group, four schools have already been financed in India.

The exhibition is a sincere and courageous reflection on the strength of the most impoverished communities in South India, the resilience of the poor, the invisible and the marginalised in society. Works from Amparo Sard, Cristina Torbellina, Doralice Souza, Pep Guerrero, Rif Spahni, Samuel Almansa, Tomeu Coll and Zulema Bagur, can be seen in the exhibition, which can be visited at the Town Hall from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. until 11th June.

The donation ceremony was also attended by the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion, Nati Francés; the head of the Culture Service, Catalina Caldentey, and the artist Pep Guerrero. On behalf of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, the event was also attended by the coordinator of the 'Mata Ombres' group and the exhibition's curator, Antoni Torres.
