New aid for the installation of lifts in buildings

Thursday 29th December 2022

CALVIÀ TOWN HALL OPENS THE PERIOD TO APPLY FOR THE NEW AID FOR THE INSTALLATION OF LIFTS IN BUILDINGS OF THE MUNICIPALITY

These new subsidies arise from the need to respond, above all, to the accessibility problems of an increasingly ageing population

Calvià Town Hall has launched a new aid to subsidise works for the installation of lifts in residential buildings in the municipality. The objective of these subsidies, which can be applied for from 23rd December 2022 to 22nd February 2023, is to improve accessibility in residential buildings in common areas.

The idea of activating this new aid arised because residential buildings, especially with three or more floors, lacking an elevator, pose a mobility problem for people with reduced mobility, either due to a disability or on grounds of age. In the latter case, the age curve evolution is a verifiable reality, making the population pyramid reflect a society that is increasingly ageing, with the consequent profound social involvement regarding its dependency.

Calvià Town Hall, through the Department of Housing, has enabled an item of 1.000.000 euros for the aid that will subsidise up to 40% the works that are destined to the installation of elevators for the first time (not replacements, adaptations or repairs) in residential buildings, with a maximum of 52.000 euros per property developer.

The aid, which is compatible with other subsidies, aid, income or resources for the same purpose, from any administration, public or private, national, European Union or international organisations, may be requested until 22nd February, and they will be considered as competitive tendering until the completion of the planned credit.

Buildings intended for tourist accomodation; works that involve an increase in the volume of the property, except those that are necessary to solve accessibility and that comply with urban regulations; and the replacement of the pre-existing elevator or the incorporation of new elements to the existing one, will be excluded from these subsidies.
