8 people of the Launchers find employment

Friday 16th February 2018

The Employment Launchers programme is consolidated as an effective tool in the fight against unemployment

8 participants of this edition have found employment in different sectors

The V Employment Launcher of Calvià began to work in November to help 15 unemployed people (men and women of different ages, educational levels and work trajectories) to train a new team work search, with new tools and procedures, according to the current labour market.

Now, when half of the programme has been completed, the deputy mayor for Economy, Employment and Innovation, Maria del Carmen Iglesias Manjón; the councillor of the area of Son Ferrer, Alfonso Molina, and the Employment Launchers technician in the Santa María la Real Foundation, Marta Costa, visited the members of the V Employment Launcher to learn about the activities they have carried out since November to improve their employability.

The technician that coordinates and manages the launcher, Lola Romillo, explained during the visit that during these first weeks the team has carried out self-knowledge and emotional intelligence dynamics to outline their professional objective and establish a detailed action plan; as well as workshops to update their curriculum, job interview simulations and management of new communication techniques and personal branding.

María del Carmen Iglesias Manjón, president of the IFOC, highlights "the important role that the four previous projects of Employment Launchers and Solidarity Entrepreneurship have had in Calvià and that this project has been constituted as a valid and effective tool in the real labour insertion of its participants, whatever their age, educational level and previous work experience."

Collaborative culture

In order to show their proactivity, several members of the launcher have intervened to tell how the functions have been distributed and have created four projects to make their job search organised, more professional and effective. In this way, while some organise a database with their professional profiles, others look for job offers or feed their web and profiles in networks to achieve greater visibility and positioning.

With this outline of teamwork and collaborative culture they will continue working until May, organising visits to companies to make themselves known or going to special forums. It will be a training that will allow them to be better prepared, strengthen their skills and have new opportunities.

First insertions

As a result of these activities and the individual and collective effort, a total of 8 participants have found employment, in different sectors: hospitality, security, agriculture and administration.

In addition, there is a participant who is working jointly on an entrepreneurship project and is receiving advice from the IFOC Entrepreneurship Accelerator to develop her business model and plan.

''They recognise that the programme has helped them to overcome the discouragement generated by unemployment and that the first activities carried out allow them to change the chip or the attitude to enter the job market. The work dynamic is very dynamic and proactive, and will be intensified in this second phase of the launcher until May, so we expect that the percentage of job insertions and success stories increases," added Lola Romillo and Marta Costa, of the Santa María la Real Foundation.
