CALVIÀ OBTAINS 15 Q FLAGS STANDING AGAIN AS THE MUNICIPALITY WITH THE MOST QUALITY DISTINCTIVES ON ITS BEACHES IN SPAIN

Mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal has collected the flags in an act chaired by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto

Calvià has obtained 15 Q quality flags awarded by the ICTE (Spanish Tourism Quality Institute), and which today has been delivered by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto in Madrid.

The Mayor of Calvià has collected the 15 flags that credit Calvià as the municipality with the most Q Quality flags on its beaches throughout the State. Alfonso Rodríguez Badal has pointed out that «the fact that the ICTE has recognized Calvià as the municipality with the most Q quality flags, reflects what quality in general means for a destination such as Calvià, and what it means for its beaches. We continue working to maintain this quality». In addition - he said - this year we must add another distinctive that is security «and with this combination we will continue to have beaches that give confidence, on the one hand, to tourists and residents so that they know how to enjoy them, and that they also continue to be the attraction for our high season in a difficult time».

The Q flags are awarded by ICTE, based on the internationally recognized ISO quality standard. The Calvià Town Hall has decided to work on this distinctive because it responds to the quality parametres that the municipality seeks for its beaches and with the road map of the Town Hall's Strategic Coastal Plan. As the Mayor recalls, obtaining the Q for quality involves an audit year after year of a whole series of services offered on the beaches, as well as environmental quality.

The 15 Calvià beaches with Q flag are: Bunguenvíl·lia, Illetes balneario, Cala Contesa, Portals, s'Oratori, es Caregador (Palmanova), Palmanova, Son Maties, Magaluf, Cala Vinyes, Ses Penyes Roges (el Toro), Santa Ponça, la Romana (Peguera), Torà (Peguera) and Palmira (Peguera).
